Hal ini dilakukan karena hasil studi awal menunjukkan efek yang positif dan situasinya dianggap darurat.<\/p>\n<p>Remdesivir sendiri adalah obat eksperimental dari perusahaan farmasi Gilead. Eksperimental artinya obat masih dalam tahap pengembangan sehingga belum bisa dipakai secara luas.<\/p>\n<p>Artikel yang dipublikasi oleh American Chemical Society menjelaskan remdesivir pertama kali dikembangkan Gilead bekerja sama dengan Pusat Pengendalian dan Pencegahan Penyakit Amerika Serikat (CDC) dan Institut Riset Medis Penyakit Menular Militer Amerika Serikat.<\/p>\n<p>Pada tahun 2009 remdesivir diuji untuk menyembuhkan penyakit hepatitis C, namun hasilnya tidak memuaskan. Remdesivir mendapat kesempatan berikutnya ketika diuji sebagai terapi untuk pasien saat wabah virus Ebola di tahun 2014.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hanya saja, analisis di pertengahan studi menunjukkan remdesivir kalah efektif dibandingkan terapi berbasis antibodi MAb114 dan REGN-EB3. Mempertimbangkan tingkat kematian penyakit ini, intervensi remdesivir dihentikan,&#8221; tulis para peneliti dari National Institute of Health dan dikutip pada Jumat (8\/5\/2020).<\/p>\n<p>Meski hasil uji klinis sebelumnya tak sesuai dengan yang diharapkan, tes laboratorium menunjukkan remdesivir bisa melawan virus Corona seperti severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) dan Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).
