Penemuan ini sekaligus menegaskan sebuah teori bahwa patogen pandemi berevolusi secara alami.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Studi yang diterbitkan dalam jurnal Current Biology, menyebutkan para peneliti dari China dan Australia menemukan bahwa kedua virus ini memiliki keterkaitan fitur utama dengan SARS-CoV-2, untuk memicu penyakit. Para peneliti mengatakan temuan itu menunjukkan karakteristik virus seperti ini dapat berkembang secara alami, bukan hasil buatan seperti yang dikatakan beberapa orang.<\/p>\n<p>Tim peneliti menemukan &#8216;kerabat dekat&#8217; dari virus Corona\u00a0COVID-19\u00a0yang disebut RmYN02, di antara 227 sampel kelelawar yang dikumpulkan di provinsi Yunna di China antara Mei dan Oktober tahun lalu. Sama seperti SARS-CoV-2, RmYN02 memiliki sisipan asam amino di persimpangan subunit protein lonjakannya.<\/p>\n<p>Penyisipan ini yang kemudian dianggap meningkatkan kapasitas SARS-CoV-2 untuk menyebabkan penyakit. &#8220;Temuan kami menunjukkan bahwa peristiwa penyisipan ini, yang awalnya tampak sangat tidak biasa, dapat kenyataannya terjadi secara alami pada betacoronavirus hewan,&#8221; menurut laporan Science Daily dari Profesor Shi Weifeng direktur Institute of Pathogen Biology di Shandong First Medical University, dikutip dari South China Morning Post, Rabu (13\/5\/2020).<\/p>\n<p>Meskipun kedua virus Corona ini memiliki fitur &#8216;penyisipan&#8217; yang serupa, RmYN02 tampaknya tidak lebih mengancam manusia dibandingkan SARS-CoV-2 yang setidaknya telah menginfeksi 4 juta orang di seluruh dunia. Salah satu perbedaan besar adalah bahwa RmYN02 bukan merupakan pendahulu yang berasal langsung dari\u00a0SARS-CoV-2, demikian jelas para peneliti.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Masih ada celah evolusi antara virus-virus ini.
