Banyak yang mempercayai bahwa mengucek mata adalah sebuah keharusan ketika mata terasa gatal ataupun kelilipan.<\/p>\n

Pengalaman artis cantik\u00a0Angela Lee\u00a0dapat menjadi pelajaran bersama bahwa mengucek mata bukanlah solusi untuk menghilangkan rasa gatal atau kelilipan. Justru, banyak bahaya yang ditimbulkan dari mengucek mata.<\/p>\n

Dr dr Gitalisa Andayani, SpM(K) dari RS Cipto Mangunkusumo (RSCM) Kirana dan Jakarta Eye Center menyetujui ungkapan bahwa mengucek mata memang memiliki sejumlah dampak negatif.<\/p>\n

Berikut dampak negatif dari mengucek mata menurut dr Gita :<\/p>\n

  1. Luka atau trauma pada permukaan mata<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Keseringan mengucek\u00a0mata\u00a0dengan kasar bisa menyebabkan pembuluh darah menjadi pecah pada konjungtiva (selaput lendir mata, atau bagian putih mata), sehingga menimbulkan bercak merah darah pada bagian bola mata.<\/p>\n

    1. Lecet pada kornea mata<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Mengucek mata berpotensi membuat kornea mata menjadi lecet. Hal ini dikarenakan ketika mengucek mata, bulu mata dapat ikut menggesek kornea.<\/p>\n

      1. Mengubah bentuk kornea<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Biasanya dialami oleh anak-anak. Keseringan mengucek mata dapat mengubah bentuk kornea, sehingga menimbulkan resiko mata minus maupun silinder.<\/p>\n

        1. Infeksi mata<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Terdapat kuman di dalam tangan kita. Oleh sebab itu, ketika mengucek mata, otomatis kuman yang ada pada tangan akan berpindah ke mata.<\/p>\n

          1. Iritasi pada bagian kulit sekitar mata<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

            Mengucek mata dapat menimbulkan iritasi kronis pada kisaran kulit mata. Hal inilah yang menyebabkan timbulnya dark circles dan kehilangan elastisitas pada kulit.<\/p>\n

            Oleh sebab itu, perlunya menjaga kebersihan dan kesehatan mata. Menurut dr FA Timmy Budi Yudhantara, SpM dari RS Saint Carolus, Jakarta, seseorang bisa menjaga kebersihan mata agar terhindar dari gatal dan\u00a0kelilipan, dengan cara menggunakan pelindung mata, seperti kacamata. Untuk pengendara motor disarankan menggunakan helm dan kacamata agar terhindar dari debu dan kotoran.<\/p>\n
