Para profesional medis menyebutnya dengan sebutan &#8216;superdonor&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Sebelumnya, tepat seminggu sebelum New Jersey di lockdown, pria bernama Matthew Facendo ini mengalami demam. Karena merasa ada yang aneh, Matthew yang saat itu bekerja sebagai tukang pos memutuskan untuk pergi ke rumah sakit dan melakukan serangkaian tes COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Saya punya firasat buruk, karena saya memiliki triple bypass dengan penggantian katup aorta, pada September 2018 lalu,&#8221; ujarnya, dikutip dari\u00a0<em>New York Post,<\/em>\u00a0Senin (3\/8\/2020).<\/p>\n<p>Selama 11 hari pasca tes\u00a0COVID-19, Matthew harus berjuang melawan demam yang panasnya mencapai 37 hingga 39 derajat Celcius. Tak hanya itu, ia juga sempat kehilangan fungsi indra penciuman, indra perasa, kurang nafsu makan, dan merasa kelelahan.<\/p>\n<p>Saat itu, Matthew tidak pernah merasa adanya masalah pada sistem pernapasannya. Ia terus memantau tekanan darah dan mengawasi kadar oksigen dalam tubuhnya dengan oksimeter. Selama merasakan hal ini, Matthew yakin dirinya juga menularkannya ke istri dan anaknya yang berusia 29 tahun. Tetapi untung gejala yang dialami keduanya ringan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Gejalanya terus datang dan pergi, bahkan hasil tes COVID-19 saya tidak positif sampai tanggal 23 Maret. Dan di saat itu juga, saya mengalami demam tinggi,&#8221; jelasnya.<\/p>\n<p>Hingga di awal April 2020, Matthew sudah bisa kembali bekerja seperti biasanya. Ia mendapatkan kabar baik bahwa antibodi tubuhnya terhadap virus tersebut telah terbentuk. Matthew juga disebut sebagai superdonor, karena antibodi yang ada pada tubuhnya sangat tinggi, sehingga disebut sebagai donor tingkat 4.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Mereka mengatakan itu hal yang tidak biasa dan meminta saya untuk terlibat dalam studi tentang antibodi jangka panjang,&#8221; kata Matthew.<\/p>\n<p>Setelah mengetahui itu, Matthew langsung mendaftarkan diri sebagai donor plasma untuk membantu pemulihan\u00a0pasien COVID-19\u00a0lainnya, di Pusat Universitas Hackensack, New York. Ia melakukan ini karena ingin membantu orang-orang yang sedang berjuang melawan pandemi seperti dirinya pada saat tersebut.<\/p>\n<p>Kepala petugas ilmiah di Pusat Penemuan dan Inovasi di Hackensack Meridian Health, David Perlin, mengatakan fenomena seperti yang dialami Matthew ini sangat jarang terjadi.
