TNews, INTERNASIONAL<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0Otoritas Saudi baru-baru ini menangkap\u00a0Sheikh Abdullah Basfar, salah satu pembaca Al-Quran (Qari) dan\u00a0ulama terkenal di kalangan muslim.\u00a0Penangkapan ini diungkapkan oleh the Prisoners of Conscience melalui akun Twitter.<\/p>\n

Seperti dilansir\u00a0Middle East Monitor (<\/em>MEMO), Selasa (8\/9) akun Twitter the Prisoners of Conscience menyampaikan bahwa Syekh Basfar ditangkap pada Agustus lalu, tanpa memberikan rincian lebih lanjut tentang bagaimana dan di mana dia ditangkap.<\/p>\n

“Kami mengkonfirmasi penahanan Syekh Dr Abdullah Basfar sejak Agustus 2020,” tulis akun Prisoners of Conscience.<\/p>\n

Basfar adalah seorang profesor di departemen Sharia dan Islamic Studies di King Abdul Aziz University di Jeddah. Ia juga mantan Sekretaris Jenderal Organisasi Kitab dan Sunnah Dunia.<\/p>\n

Laporan tentang penahanan Syekh Basfar bertepatan dengan laporan tentang penahanan Syekh Saud Al-Funaisan, yang ditangkap pada bulan Maret.<\/p>\n

Al-Funaisan adalah seorang profesor universitas dan mantan dekan fakultas Syariah di Universitas Al-Imam di Riyadh.<\/p>\n

Namun, beberapa orang memuji penahanan ini sebagai bagian dari tindakan keras terhadap ekstremisme di kerajaan itu, berdasarkan rencana Putra Mahkota Saudi Mohamed Bin Salman untuk menghapus identitas agama Arab Saudi.<\/p>\n

Tetapi sejumlah besar warga Saudi mengungkapkan kemarahan mereka atas penahanan tersebut. Surat kabar online Rai Al Youm mengungkapkan, mengutip seorang warga Saudi, di Twitter: “Elit yang kita butuhkan ada di penjara.”<\/p>\n

Akun Twitter warga Saudi lainnya yang dilaporkan oleh Rai Al Youm memposting: “Ulama kami ditahan secara sewenang-wenang, sementara orang-orang sepele menikmati kebebasan dan menyebarkan korupsi di negara tersebut. Ini adalah kampanye terbuka untuk menyingkirkan Islam dan menyebarkan kejahatan di tanah Haramin. ”<\/p>\n

Sejak 2017, ketika putra mahkota mengambil alih kekuasaan, dia telah menindak ulama, jurnalis, akademisi, dan aktivis dunia maya atas pandangan kritis mereka tentang cara dia memerintah negara dan rencananya untuk mensekulerkannya.<\/p>\n
