TNews, SEHAT<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0Peneliti menemukan kelelawar di Thailand memiliki virus Corona mirip dengan Sars-CoV-2, virus penyebab\u00a0COVID-19.<\/p>\n

Virus baru yang dinamakan RacCS203 ditemukan dalam darah kelelawar tapal kuda yang disimpan di gua buatan di suaka margasatwa timur Thailand. Dalam penelitian di jurnal Nature Communication, studi yang dipimpin oleh Chulalongkorn University di Bangkok melakukan pengurutan genom pada virus baru tersebut.<\/p>\n

Hasilnya menunjukkan virus itu membawa 91,5 persen dari kode genetik Sars-CoV-2, virus yang menyebabkan COVID-19.<\/p>\n

“Ini juga sangat mirip dengan\u00a0virus Corona\u00a0lain yang dikenal sebagai RmYN02, yang ditemukan pada kelelawar di Yunnan, China,” kata para peneliti dikutip dari\u00a0New York Times<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Hanya saja para peneliti mengatakan virus baru ini memiliki perbedaan dalam protein spikenya, yang membuatnya tidak mungkin menginfeksi sel manusia.<\/p>\n

Antibodi dalam darah kelelawar yang terinfeksi mampu menetralkan virus Sars-CoV-2.<\/p>\n

Para peneliti mengatakan penemuan kelelawar yang terinfeksi menunjukkan bahwa virus Corona lebih menyebar pada hewan di seluruh Asia daripada yang diketahui sebelumnya. Mempelajari lebih banyak tentang hewan ini disebut dapat mengungkap asal-usul pandemi.<\/p>\n

“Kami perlu melakukan lebih banyak pengawasan pada hewan. Pengawasan ini harus dilakukan juga di luar China,” kata profesor Universitas Singapura Lin-Fa Wang kepada BBC.<\/p>\n

Para peneliti mengatakan pengambilan sampel terbatas, tetapi mereka yakin bahwa virus corona dengan tingkat keterkaitan genetik yang tinggi dengan\u00a0Sars-CoV-2\u00a0secara luas terdapat pada kelelawar di banyak negara dan wilayah di Asia.<\/p>\n
